Understand Parts of an Application
Every application you create has two different types of information you need to provide:
Information that's always required for that event type, regardless of the specifics of the event.
Information that may or may not be required, depending on the the specifics of the event.
Certain information is always going to be required for a type of permit, such as a Special Event Permit. This could be general information, like the applicant details, or event location and dates. Or it could be details like insurance documents, security plans, and waste management plans - things your public agency will always need in order to decide whether to approve your application.
However, even though many events may all fall under the same type of permit, such as a Special Event Permit type, the specifics of those events can be very different. This means the information you need to provide can be very different. A marathon is different from a parade, which is different from a music festival. A free afternoon concert in the park is different from a ticketed, multi-day fair serving food and alcohol.
We want to ensure that you know exactly what information you need to provide, and also ensure you don't go hunting for information you don't need to provide. This makes it faster and easier to submit your application, and also makes the review process smoother.
In addition to the information that's always required, every application will have a section labeled Event Details. Here, you'll enter a series of Yes/No questions and, depending how you answer those questions, Eproval will generate a custom application that prompts you for only the information you need to provide. For example, if you answer No to a question about serving alcohol, you won't see any sections asking you for information around serving alcohol like restricted areas and ID checks. But if you answer yes to a question about using stages, then you'll have to enter details like stage height and type.
The next part in this process walks you through the Event Details section and dynamically generating an application that's just right for you.
